Your workplace

The Pediatric Clinic is sometimes called the "Little Hospital" within the large hospital. This is because our operations cover most of the different specialties in healthcare, including medicine, surgery, orthopedics, oncology, emergency care, and neonatal care. This highlights the extensive and broad experience and knowledge we offer to both patients and employees. At the emergency department for children and young people in Karlstad, we care for children and adolescents up to 18 years of age.

With support from experienced colleagues, you will receive an individually tailored introduction to the workplace, as a good working environment and patient safety are of utmost importance to us. The Pediatric Emergency Department is open to the possibility of combining employment between units.

The Pediatric Emergency Unit operates 24/7, with shifts covering days, evenings, and nights.

The employment is fixed-term until 2027-08-31, with the possibility of extension.

Your responsibilities

As a nurse, you work in a team together with pediatric assistant nurses, pediatricians, surgeons, and orthopedists. Together, you will perform early assessments of children seeking emergency care. As a nurse, you will work independently using standardized procedures.

Your tasks include prioritizing children based on medical needs and performing individually tailored nursing and medical interventions. We always adapt our care to the best interests of the child and the family.

Your knowledge and competencies

We are looking for you who want to work with children and young people in need of emergency care. You are a registered pediatric nurse, or a registered nurse with at least one to two years of experience from emergency, inpatient, and/or pediatric care.

We would like you to be good at building relationships, communicative, positive, and enjoy taking on new challenges. You appreciate a job that varies in pace and level of care, thrive in a team environment, but can also work independently. You plan your work well and can make decisions based on the information available. You have a heart that beats for children, young people, and their families.
