We are now looking for a Specialist Training Doctor (ST-läkare) in Internal Medicine at Torsby Hospital. Here you will work in a unit where proximity, quality, and collegial support are central parts of everyday life – and where you, as a doctor, will grow in your role.
Your Workplace
Torsby Hospital is one of Region Värmland's three emergency hospitals and serves approximately 40,000 residents in northern Värmland. During the winter, the patient volume increases due to the proximity to several major ski resorts.
We have three wards where patients with internal medicine, surgical, and orthopedic conditions are treated. Additionally, there is outpatient services, a mobile team, an operating department, endoscopy, ICU with intermediate care beds, and an emergency department open 24/7 with radiology and laboratory services.
As an ST doctor with us, you will work in a clinic-free organization where collaboration and flexibility are central. You will gain broad experience in emergency care and internal medicine, while having close access to experienced colleagues and supervisors.

It is important to us that you get a valuable role in our work group and that your training is tailored together with your supervisor, study director, and unit manager. We strive to make the training with us as rewarding as possible, to provide the knowledge needed for future work as a specialist in internal medicine. We work to find optimal working conditions to create a good balance between work and private life.
Your Responsibilities
As an ST doctor in internal medicine, you will participate in all parts of the operations:
- Ward work and outpatient clinic
- Management of acutely ill patients
- On-call duties
- Teamwork together with nurses, assistant nurses, and other professions
- Supervision of AT and BT doctors as you develop
- Active participation in development and quality work, as well as personal study time
Your training is planned and followed up together with supervisors, study directors, and unit managers to ensure that you reach your goals and receive a rewarding and developing ST. Rotation at the hospital in Karlstad is included as part of your ST.
Your Knowledge and Competencies
We are looking for you who are a licensed physician with permission to work within Swedish healthcare. You have good knowledge of Swedish, at least level C1, and should have completed your BT (Basic Training).
As a person, you are engaged and curious, with a desire to develop within internal medicine. You thrive in teamwork and have a professional approach. At the same time, you have the ability to see the big picture and contribute to a safe and stable care environment. You are flexible and can adapt your working style to changing circumstances, and have an easy time breaking down complex problems into manageable parts.
We view high competence, quality, the ability to see the larger perspective, and continuity as important qualities. We also place great emphasis on your personal qualities.
