We are looking for several GIS specialists in road data for the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket).
This is a consulting assignment. The location is flexible anywhere in Sweden.
The position is full-time.
In this role, you will work with updating and quality assurance of road data, handling geographic information, as well as registering and updating data in the National Road Database (NVDB).
The assignment involves close collaboration with the client, which places high demands on flexibility and teamwork.
The Assignment
As a GIS specialist in road data, you work with updating, quality assurance, and registration of road data in the National Road Database (NVDB). The role involves handling data deliveries, geographic information, and administrative cases, as well as collaborating with data providers. Tasks include receiving and controlling data deliveries, registering and updating road data in NVDB, and providing feedback to data providers. The assignment covers several experience levels where some roles focus on operational updating and quality assurance of road data, while more senior roles also include mentoring, training, planning and conducting meetings, expert support in the development of data products, as well as team leadership and broader responsibility within the road data area.
Responsibilities
- Receive cases and data deliveries
- Control data deliveries
- Request supplements for cases and data deliveries if necessary
- Adjust and supplement the content of data deliveries if necessary
- Checkout the current area from NVDB and update with the content from data deliveries (registration)
- Check in and store registered data in NVDB
- Provide feedback to data providers after completed handling
- Participate as expert support in the development of new and changed data products
- Mentor less experienced staff
- Lead resources within the competence area of road data updating
- Administer and handle assigned cases
- Suggest improvements to working methods and IT support in collaboration with the client or on own initiative.
Requirements (OBS, mandatory)
GIS Specialist:
- Good IT skills.
- Good knowledge within the road data area.
- Ability to interpret, communicate, and apply specifications within the road data area.
- GIS competence with the ability to interpret maps and geographic information as well as basic knowledge of coordinate systems.
- Proficient in Swedish in speech and writing in both information material and contracts.
- Good ability to create open and good relationships - You must be able to work in teams with both internal and external actors and show a good ability to contribute to an open, respectful, and solution-oriented dialogue, as well as willingness to share methods and improvements.
- At least one (1) year of experience and application of GIS programs.
- Must have worked with updating of geographic information for at least one (1) year during the last three (3) years, calculated at contract start. The work should collectively correspond to at least 50 percent of a full-time position.
- Fluent Swedish in speech and writing.
Senior GIS Specialist:
- Meets all requirements for GIS Specialist.
- Ability to mentor staff.
- Ability to independently inform and train data providers.
- Experience in planning, leading, and conducting meetings.
- At least 2 years of experience working in GIS programs.
- At least 2 years of experience in road data updating during the last 5 years. The work should collectively correspond to at least 50 percent of a full-time position.
Lead GIS Specialist:
- Meets all requirements for Senior GIS Specialist.
- Ability to lead staff.
- Ability to independently inform and train data providers as well as plan, lead, and conduct meetings.
- At least five (5) years of experience and application of GIS programs.
- At least 5 years of experience in road data updating during the last 8 years. The work should collectively correspond to at least 50 percent of a full-time position.
Meritorious
- You have good knowledge of NVDB and have worked with updating of NVDB data during the last two (2) years, calculated at contract start, corresponding to at least 75% of a full-time position.
- You have good knowledge of NVDB and have worked with updating of NVDB data during the last five (5) years, calculated at contract start, corresponding to at least 75% of a full-time position.
