SÄS's introduction program for newly graduated nurses is based on the Region Västra Götaland's enhanced professional introduction, the Clinical Foundation Year. However, at SÄS, we are unique in that our introduction is also built on the following five basic conditions:

  • Independent work with your own professional responsibility as a licensed nurse
  • Adapted tasks and workload
  • Support from an experienced nurse
  • Education and clinical training
  • Reflection

About the introduction via the Clinical Introduction Unit

You are employed by the Clinical Introduction Unit but will begin working clinically at one of our care units at SÄS. This clinical placement lasts for your first 7 months with us. During this time, a match is made with a care unit where you will eventually work. The work begins with an introduction schedule, which lasts approximately 12 weeks at the first placement and about 8 weeks at the unit where you receive your long-term placement. You will have a total of approximately 20 weeks with an introduction schedule during your first year.

The introduction schedule means that you share your shift roster with an experienced nurse. You perform independent tasks based on your individual development plan, with tasks and workload adapted to you. This gives you the opportunity to gradually ramp up and grow into your new role. During each work shift, we ensure that there is a designated experienced colleague you can turn to for questions and support. At the end of your introduction schedule, an assessment is made regarding the need for continued support based on your individual development.

How the introduction works

You begin your employment with a clinical placement at a care unit where the focus is on giving you a secure and stable start in your profession.

  • The introduction follows a developed methodological support and progression ladder
  • You develop gradually based on an individual development plan
  • You have regular follow-ups together with the introduction responsible colleague, team leader, and manager

Matching for long-term employment

The position is a permanent employment. After you have completed your 12-month introduction, 9 months of which are via the Clinical Introduction Unit, you will be offered continued employment at one of our care units. The final placement is based on the operational needs and your preferences.

Education and development

During the introduction period, 20% of your working time is allocated to competence development:

  • Joint education program (15% of your working time)
  • Clinical education days, reflection, and group meetings (5% of your working time)

Your profile

We are looking for you who:

  • graduates as a nurse by June 2026 (or is newly graduated with a maximum of 4 months of experience)
  • are engaged, curious, and want to develop in your professional role
  • have good collaboration skills and a professional attitude
  • thrive in a varied daily life and want to grow into independent work

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

  • Introduction start: August 31, 2026
  • A certificate of good conduct (extract from the criminal record) may be requested in certain operations
