Skärgårdsskolan F–3 is located in Holmsund, 1.5 miles outside of Umeå. Holmsund is a growing community, and the number of students is increasing significantly each year. In addition to creating space for all students, we work to provide equitable education with the goal of running a successful school with high goal achievement. We have qualified teachers who are engaged and focus on knowledge. Skärgårdsskolan is one of Umeå Municipality's practice schools, which means that during the school year, we host teacher students for their practice-based education (VFU). We are now looking for a reliable substitute teacher for the after-school program!

Employment Information

The position is a substitute role, full-time, with a planned start date of 2026-08-10 until 2026-12-31.

Your Responsibilities

As an after-school teacher, you work to give students a meaningful free time where you base your approach on their needs, interests, and initiatives, while also introducing new activities and learning opportunities.

The position is located in a section with students in grade 1. Together with a work team, you will be responsible for the instruction in the after-school program. The assignment includes working with student groups, where sometimes responsibility for larger groups occurs, where assemblies and different student sessions are common. The work also includes outdoor activities, planning, and collaboration with the school's other staff.

About You

You are well-versed in the school's governing documents and have the ability to vary teaching and activities based on students' needs. You are a reliable adult and a good role model who has the ability to connect with students, see each individual, and create a good learning environment. You motivate students by allowing them to participate and come up with their own suggestions. You have good collaboration skills with colleagues and external parties. Personal suitability is highly valued.

Requirements

• Licensed teacher/applied for teacher license with eligibility to teach in the after-school program
• Experience working as an after-school teacher
• Valid extract from the criminal record register
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in speech and writing, and basic knowledge of English
