About us

Grimstaskolan is a school covering grades 6–9, consisting of 17 classes, one of which belongs to the Adapted Basic School (AG). The school has a total of approximately 470 students, of whom about 18 attend the Adapted Basic School. Each grade level forms a work team that collaborates on student development and needs. The Adapted Basic School has its own work team dedicated to the students enrolled there. We are located in eastern Upplands Väsby with easy access to nature, leisure activities, and active clubs.

About the position

As a special needs teacher focusing on support measures (IF), you will work in our class that follows the curriculum for the Adapted Basic School. You will work in close collaboration with other colleagues at the Adapted Basic School, where you plan and conduct teaching in smaller groups with a high staff-to-student ratio.

The tasks will vary greatly, but the main responsibility is to plan and conduct teaching for students at the Adapted Basic School. Inspiring, motivating, and sparking curiosity in students so they seek out the knowledge they need is another important part of the job, as is supporting students in their personal development to function socially in society.

Other important tasks include identifying development needs and driving the development of the operations towards established goals, as well as contributing to the group's development in a broader context. There are great opportunities for you to use your knowledge and experience to further develop the operations' working methods together with your colleagues. The position is a temporary full-time (100%) position during the autumn semester.

Are you the one we are looking for?

We are looking for someone who:

• Is educated as a special needs teacher with a focus on support measures (IF).
• Has previous experience working in schools and/or has experience with students with special needs (AG).
• Has experience with students with psychosocial issues and diagnoses within the support measures field.
• Has a firm grounding in the school's governing documents.

You have the empathetic ability to understand students' needs and meet them where they are, as well as to listen, encourage, stimulate, and challenge them to develop further. You are passionate about helping every student succeed and utilize a broad range of pedagogical and didactic competence.

We see that you can work independently and take initiative based on common decisions, while maintaining a high level of responsibility. You work calmly and systematically with a low-affective approach, as well as a positive and inclusive attitude towards students, colleagues, and guardians.

To succeed in the role, you must have the ability to find solutions to emerging problems without losing sight of long-term goals. Furthermore, you need to be structured by organizing your work well and ensuring that what is started is completed.
