Are you a trained nursing assistant and want to work with a clear focus on modern surgical healthcare? Now is your chance to join our team and broaden your skills across several surgical areas.
About the role
As a nursing assistant, you work together with nurses and doctors. Together, we prioritize a patient-centered approach, basing our care on the patient's needs around the clock.
Your duties as a nursing assistant will involve standard tasks at a surgical ward, focusing on care where you are responsible for basic and surgical nursing care. You perform and follow up on risk assessments, observe and report changes in the patient's condition, and work with preventive measures. Many of our patients are critically ill and require specialized surgical care, which gives you broad experience in our unit. We provide both planned and emergency care, making the work varied. Patient intake also occurs during night shifts. Documentation is done in our journal system, Cosmic.
We offer onboarding according to agreement, with continuous check-ins to increase confidence when starting the job.
Working hours: day/evening shifts, 2 out of 5 weekends, 100% is 37 hours/week.
About the workplace
Ward 2B/C is a joint ward with one staff group, one ward manager, and one assistant ward manager. The ward is divided into three teams: ÖGI (upper gastrointestinal), NGI (lower gastrointestinal), and KAVA (surgical emergency ward). We apply paired care as far as possible, depending on staffing and occupancy levels.
Patients come to us from various locations depending on the reason for admission, which can be planned or emergency. Most come from Post-op after surgery or the Emergency Department, but often from other hospitals after treatment or from nearby wards, as we collaborate regarding patient load. It also happens that a patient has had an outpatient visit and is then admitted to the ward. At night, patients mostly come from the Emergency Department.
Currently, there are 28 care beds, and the goal is to open more if there is a need. Patient acuity is assessed continuously, and staffing is increased when possible.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a trained nursing assistant with a focus on emergency care. Experience in inpatient care and surgery is welcome but not required.
