Vimmerby Folk High School is looking for you who enjoy variety in everyday life for a position involving work as a kitchen assistant, cleaner, and textile care staff. To a large extent, you will work as a kitchen assistant, where your duties will include assisting with most common kitchen tasks such as cold food preparation, baking, serving, cash handling, cleaning, and dishwashing. At Vimmerby Folk High School, our goal is to serve delicious, nutritious, and well-prepared food in a safe and welcoming environment.

The work as a cleaner primarily involves responsibility for cleaning your own areas, replacing the regular cleaner during absence, assisting with deep cleaning, and other larger projects within facility maintenance. The work with textile care involves washing, maintaining, and organizing our costume wardrobe.

Here, you will meet people of different ages with diverse cultural backgrounds, life situations, and conditions. The school's motto and value base underpin our approach to work and to each other. The service operation is an important part of the whole that we strive for regarding our participants. Working hours are Monday to Friday.

The position is a one-year temporary assignment starting August 10, 2026, with a possible extension.

About You

You have education and/or experience working in restaurants, school kitchens, or large-scale catering, as well as experience in cleaning.

You can work independently but also thrive in a team. You adapt easily to changing circumstances and must be both meticulous and quality-conscious. You have good initiative, work independently within given frameworks, and are responsible in your approach. You should be self-assured and have a humanistic and positive view of people. Listening, communicating, and resolving situations constructively are prerequisites for our collaborative work to function. You will collaborate with the rest of the pedagogical staff at the school for the benefit of the participants. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Your Future Workplace

You will work in a developing and inspiring folk high school environment, centrally and beautifully located in nature in Vimmerby. Vimmerby Folk High School offers general courses at primary and upper secondary levels, six vocational programs, profile courses, and a large senior course. Additionally, we have a significant short-course and conference operation. We have approximately 40 employees and about 220 participants in our long-term courses. Vimmerby Folk High School is one of four folk high schools in the Kalmar County Region.

The kitchen at Vimmerby Folk High School prepares food from scratch as much as possible. Our goal is to use organic and certified products in our cooking. We serve breakfast, morning and afternoon coffee breaks, lunch, and evening meals on weekdays. We also prepare food for our conferences and other visitors.

The education administration area includes five basic units, library development, and the four folk high schools: Gamleby Folk High School, Kalmar Folk High School, Vimmerby Folk High School, and Öland Folk High School. The folk high schools offer a wide range of education that contributes to raising the educational level in the county. Library development initiates, leads, and coordinates the county's joint development work in the library sector. We are part of the regional development administration, which works together on growth and development issues in Kalmar County.
