About the workplace

The catering operations are part of the Service Administration in Ale Municipality. The Service Administration is tasked with providing quality service to Ale Municipality's core activities in a professional and resource-efficient manner.

Through our work, we ensure that the municipality's special housing, schools, and preschools receive good, safe, nutritious meals with great variety. In Ale, we strive to cook from scratch, use Swedish raw materials, and make climate-smart choices. In total, the catering operations consist of about 90 employees and approximately 32 kitchens.

We are now looking for an engaged and service-oriented meal assistant in the catering operations. Take the chance to contribute to the development of our operations together with us and thereby give our guests a joyful meal experience.

Job Responsibilities

In the role of meal assistant, your tasks include preparing and serving breakfast, lunch/dinner, and snacks with a service-oriented attitude. Orders, planning, dishwashing, cleaning, self-control, and more are part of the daily work. Good teamwork skills, flexibility, and a good sense of service are important qualities.

As a pool meal assistant, you are an employee in our important pool team, which serves as a replacement during absences. You will work broadly across all of Ale Municipality's kitchens, from our youngest guests in preschools to the elderly in our special housing facilities. This means you must be able to work both independently and in a team. In our kitchens, we work with seasonal menus, salad selections, and actively work to reduce food waste. It should be fun to go to work, and we are looking for you who can bring joy and have the desire to do a good job!

Qualifications

You have a high school education with a focus on meal assistant or other education that the employer deems equivalent.

You have worked in a kitchen and naturally have the diners in focus. Good teamwork skills and a good sense of service are important qualities. The work requires high flexibility as you will work at several workplaces. You are solution-oriented, can plan your day, and work independently. You are positive, have a high sense of service, and like to deliver with quality.

You have experience in preparation and serving of lighter kitchen work in large kitchens, such as boiling potatoes, rice, pasta, porridge, and preparing salads, etc. You have experience in preparation and serving of special diets. You have knowledge of self-control, food hygiene, and its documentation.

You have basic computer skills.

You need to master the Swedish language well in both speech and writing. It is part of the assignment to read and follow recipes, read and absorb information via email, read routines and instructions, and communicate with colleagues, customers, and diners.

A B-driver's license is desirable. The work is scheduled during daytime on weekdays.

Since the work involves contact with children, you must be able to present an extract from the police's criminal record register upon an offer of employment.
