to apply for the job

We are looking for several migration case officers within reception, housing, and return to our reception and return centers in Malmö/Burlöv, where we are currently establishing several new operations. The establishment of these centers is part of the national reform of the asylum reception system and a preparation for the implementation of the asylum pact.

Description of the center

The center is a new type of workplace. You will work with issues that concern and engage you in a dynamic environment characterized by encounters with people and influenced by what is happening in our surrounding world. It is also an environment characterized by continuous learning and participation, where co-location provides us with better conditions for working closely together across professions in the asylum process. We are also close to the asylum seeker by working where the asylum seeker lives. This allows us to work more efficiently and make things safer for the asylum seeker.

It is an international environment, both due to the proximity to Kastrup Airport where most arrive and leave Sweden, and because the authority will next year become more integrated into a common European asylum reception and EU authorities such as Frontex and EUAA. When you work at the center, you become part of the journey towards a new and reformed asylum reception system. You are expected to be open to the fact that your competence and commitment are needed for various tasks performed at the center, where service and guidance are recurring elements. Feel free to listen to our podcast, where two experienced team leaders from the Swedish Migration Agency's housing division share insights on what it is like to work closely with people seeking protection in Sweden; listen here (#).

What does a migration case officer do?

In your role as a migration case officer at the center, you have extensive contact with people living there. You will also come into contact with other stakeholders present at the center as well as other authorities.

As a migration case officer, you work with processing, investigating, deciding, and preparing proposal decisions for various types of cases. The decisions have legal effect for individuals and affect their rights to benefits, rights, and obligations. In addition, you work with administration where you handle files and documents that have been received or created in a case.

In your role, you meet and have conversations with people who have a case with the Swedish Migration Agency and other stakeholders. The conversations may involve notifying about decisions, informing about the Swedish Migration Agency's processes, as well as guiding and providing service. You identify and handle any special needs of individuals and, where applicable, hold conversations with adults and children in vulnerable situations.

The operations at the center are characterized by a high variation of different tasks, and the ability to work together with others in a group is important. The operations run 24/7.

Who are you?

We are looking for you who have good cooperation skills, are receptive, and communicate in a constructive manner. You are clear in your communication and ensure that messages reach their audience and that expectations are clear for all parties involved. Furthermore, you are structured and can independently plan and organize work efficiently towards set goals and deadlines. You are flexible and easily adapt and change your perspective and attitude in changing circumstances.

In our work as civil servants, high demands are also placed on judgment and a high level of security and confidentiality awareness.

You who apply have

  • An academic education of at least 120 hp with a legal, social science, or behavioral science focus, or other education combined with current and relevant experience for the role.
  • Knowledge within administrative law cases.
  • Experience in work requiring good service and professional treatment.
  • Good communication skills and express yourself well verbally and in writing in Swedish and English.
  • Good knowledge of the Office package.
