At the County Administrative Board of Östergötland, you get the chance to protect and preserve the region's unique nature – every day. With over 300 nature reserves already in place, exciting challenges await in expanding protection and securing nature values for future generations. About the Unit

You will belong to the Area Protection Group within the Nature Protection Unit, which currently consists of 14 people distributed across 2 work groups: the case group and the area protection group. The unit's main area of work concerns the exercise of authority regarding the protection and preservation of nature values in Östergötland from a broad perspective.

Your Responsibilities

• Create new nature reserves, habitat protection, and nature conservation agreements, as well as revise existing decisions and management plans.
• Inventory and assess nature values primarily in terrestrial environments but also to some extent in aquatic environments (e.g., riparian zones, wetlands, swamp forests).
• Collaborate with municipalities, authorities, and landowners to advance nature conservation issues.
• Lead projects and procure nature conservation measures.

Requirements for the position:

• Relevant university education (biology, ecology, or similar).
• GIS competence.
• Category B driver's license.
• Fluent Swedish in speech and writing.

Merits if you have:

• Experience with key habitat inventories, nature value assessments, or similar.
• Knowledge of Natura 2000 and habitat types.
• Knowledge of the Environmental Code.
• Project management experience.
• Procurement experience.
• Experience in area protection work.
• Knowledge of nature conservation species.
