Kastalskolan is a school covering grades 4–9 with approximately 400 students. The school is located in Brunflo and has a mixed catchment area that includes parts of the town center as well as some rural areas. All activities at the school are driven by the goal: "We focus on providing a good education that stimulates students' curiosity and desire to learn." We have a well-developed student health service with a school nurse, school counselor, and school psychologist. Your new job
As a student resource in a group, you support students' development both academically and socially in close collaboration with teachers and other staff. You contribute to a safe and inclusive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed, and you are a key part of creating structure, study peace, and motivation in daily life.
Common tasks
As a student assistant, you work together with educators to provide support to one or more students during the school day and in all the different social situations students encounter at school. You are expected to work preventively and set boundaries in accordance with the school's rules and routines. Almost the entire workday is spent together with the students, in hallways and in classrooms.
The role of student assistant involves, for example:
- Supporting students in planning and carrying out the school day, including schedule adjustments.
- Providing support in individual work and in acquiring knowledge.
- Being a support for the student during breaks and transitions throughout the day.
- Supporting students in teaching, both practically and pedagogically.
- Contributing to creating structure, safety, and predictability in the student's daily life.
- Supporting students' development of social and communicative skills.
- Collaborating closely with teachers, the student health team, and external actors if necessary.
- Maintaining a close and good dialogue with guardians.
- Participating in work regarding safety and study peace, including handling bullying cases according to school routines.
- The work may involve both individual support and group work.
Your qualifications
We are looking for you with some form of education in child and education, or alternatively work experience regarding work with youth and knowledge of NPF (Neurodevelopmental Disorders) and low-affective handling. You may be educated as a youth worker, youth leader, or have other equivalent education.
You are a self-reliant person who takes responsibility for your tasks. You structure and drive your work independently. You have the ability to create engagement and involvement. You easily build relationships, are outgoing, and socially active in your work. You collaborate well with other people and relate to them in a listening and smooth manner. You listen, communicate, and resolve collaboration difficulties or conflicts in a constructive way. Previous experience from pedagogical or social work and suitable education for the position are meritorious.
We are looking for you who
Has personal maturity and a genuine interest in the development of children and young people. Are calm, stable, and have a good ability to create trusting relationships. You have good collaboration skills, can work closely with educators, and are flexible and solution-focused in everyday situations.
You can set clear boundaries and create structure. Other tasks may be added to this work, such as assisting the special needs teacher in developing measures regarding special support based on the student's needs, or participating in development talks or other student health meetings. The school is a dynamic operation which places high demands on flexibility and innovative thinking. The position implies that you as an applicant must be able to adapt and be prepared for the assignment to be evaluated and potentially changed in line with the needs of the operation and students.
