We are now looking for 2 operations technicians for the Water and Wastewater Unit!
Are you technically interested, enjoy problem-solving, and want to work with the operation and development of important societal functions? Then you might be the one we are looking for!
The Water and Wastewater Unit within the Technical and Leisure Services Department of Säffle-Åmål is now seeking two driven operations technicians for the VA-process division to strengthen our team.
About the operations
VA-process is the division within the Water and Wastewater Unit responsible for the operation of the unit's waterworks, wastewater treatment plants, and pump stations. To meet increasingly stringent requirements for sustainable, robust, and secure water supply and wastewater treatment, we are now undertaking extensive investments in our facilities and processes. We are looking for more colleagues who want to help manage and develop one of society's most important operations.
Here, you will have a varied job where technology, responsibility, and societal benefit are in focus!
Job Responsibilities
As an operations technician, you work with the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and water towers in the municipalities of Säffle and Åmål. The work is performed both independently and together with other technicians within VA-process and in close collaboration with colleagues in the unit's other divisions, VA-pipe network, and VA-lab.
The responsibilities include among other things:
- Process monitoring, process optimization, sampling, and leak detection
- Operation, maintenance, and installation of process instruments and machinery
- Facility maintenance
- Documentation and result follow-up
- Participation in project work during renovations and new constructions
- Support to other staff as needed and during special events within the operations
The position also includes membership in the Water and Wastewater Unit's emergency response group, which means you have operational responsibility for the municipality's water and wastewater facilities approximately every fifth week, also outside regular working hours.
Who are you?
We are looking for you who enjoy taking responsibility, working solution-oriented, and contributing to developing the operations together with your colleagues. You are driven, meticulous, and have a strong commitment to technology and quality in your work. To thrive in the role, you have good social competence, are service-oriented, professional in your approach, and enjoy interacting with people.
You work independently while appreciating collaboration with colleagues and are happy to help where needed. You are flexible and thrive in a daily routine where tasks and pace can vary. When problems arise, you are analytical and solution-oriented, dare to take initiative, and maintain calm even in situations requiring quick decisions and prioritization.
The operations of the Water and Wastewater Unit are classified as socially important and are subject to high legal requirements, meaning the work requires a strong sense of responsibility and precision. Since we work with drinking water, high demands are also placed on hygiene and order in daily work.
Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.
We are looking for you who have:
- Technical education at the upper secondary level or other education considered equivalent
- Experience from water and wastewater processes or other process industries
- Basic mechanical competence
- Good computer skills and experience with digital operational systems
- Category B driver's license
