About Österåker Upper Secondary School

Österåker Upper Secondary School is a smaller school (620 students) with the opportunities of a larger school. This gives us good conditions for actively working on good relationships and meeting our students with high expectations. We offer the Economics Programme, the Natural Science Programme, the Social Science Programme, the Technology Programme, and two Introduction Programmes.

We have secured seven years of funding from the EU for our Erasmus projects and international collaborations. The school also has many UF companies that compete with their business plans and collaborate with our local business community. Being located in a municipality with a clear entrepreneurial profile offers great opportunities. Students can also combine their studies with profiles in sports and aesthetic creation. Our Golf profile is a NIU - nationally approved sports education and accepts applicants from the entire region.

We have a very high proportion of qualified teachers and low staff turnover. Österåker Upper Secondary School has, for example, teachers who have completed doctoral degrees, teachers who have had their literary works published, and teachers who have worked with competence development at the national level within teaching. We also have six lead teachers who work with school development through lesson design. Students who wish to study more or have extra time with their teachers are given the opportunity to do so, among other things, through many manned study times.

The school's new security team has a specific mandate to increase accessibility to students and to be present in premises and during lessons. The security team and mentors collaborate by regularly discussing security issues and how to behave towards each other. In the latest security survey, 91% of students state that they feel safe in our school.

Your new job

We are now expanding our support services. You will develop and build up a flexible support unit and be the responsible special needs teacher for two programmes. The development work is carried out together with our other special needs teacher, deputy principals, and the support services on the IM programme.

The work for the coming year will focus on supportive processes for good attendance, digital and physical learning environments, as well as improved study skills.

The new support service is for students from all programmes to enable a specially adapted learning environment, for a shorter or longer period. You will be part of the school's Student Health Team and conduct pedagogical assessments together with our experienced student health team and teaching teachers.

Your profile

If you are a driven special needs teacher who wants to be part of a team working to create a better education for our students, this job is for you. To be considered for this position:

  • You must be trained as a special needs teacher with experience in conducting pedagogical assessments and working with upper secondary students.
  • You must have an upper secondary teacher degree.
  • You must be very knowledgeable in digital systems such as Teams, various assistive technology programs, and methods to promote learning and engagement.
  • You must have experience in planning and conducting exciting and engaging activities that increase student motivation and strengthen their self-confidence.
  • You must have an investigative, solution-oriented, and critical approach to the challenges the school faces as AI makes its entry into schools.

Employment extent

100% or as agreed.

For this role, the starting salary is normally between 43,000 – 55,000 SEK depending on experience and competence. In some cases, more senior candidates may be offered a higher salary within the role's total range.
