Accounting Economist at the Swedish Tax Agency

Do you want to combine qualified accounting with developing and improving how the Swedish Tax Agency works with new assignments and financial processes? As an accounting economist with us, you will play a central role in ensuring accurate accounting, creating new working methods, and contributing to an efficient and modern financial function.

We are looking for a structured and proactive accounting economist who wants to help strengthen the importance of the financial function in an organization that is constantly changing – both technically and organizationally. Join us in making society possible!

About the Job

As an accounting economist with us, you will work closely with the Swedish Tax Agency's Service Center (SSC), which handles the agency's financial statements and accounting. You will follow up on SSC's work with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, and collaborate with colleagues in the team and economists from other parts of the Swedish Tax Agency. You will also support auditors during reviews and reporting. In this role, you will drive improvements in accounting with a focus on quality and efficiency. You will develop and implement processes for accounting, for example, for new government assignments. Additionally, you will be an internal expert support on issues related to government accounting, the State's regulations, and FÅB.

You will be part of the economic section in the department for economy, governance, and analysis, located in Sundbyberg. We work flexibly, which means you can work part of your time remotely. The section consists of 21 colleagues.

About You

To do a good job and thrive with us at the Swedish Tax Agency, you need to be attentive, think innovatively, and take responsibility. Good judgment and understanding of legal security and safety are important in the work. You should also adhere to our employee policy (https://skatteverket.se/medarbetarpolicy).

In this job, you should:

  • be meticulous, analytical, and self-driven.
  • be helpful and treat others with kindness and respect.
  • communicate clearly and concisely in both spoken and written form.
  • have the ability to explain financial issues simply and pedagogically, even for those without a financial background.
  • be able to analyze information flows, see connections, and make decisions.

You should also have:

  • a degree in economics or accounting, 180 credits (120 ECTS).
  • at least 5 years of relevant experience in qualified accounting work in a government agency or other state operations. Qualified accounting work means that you have independently worked with financial statements, reconciliations, reporting, and the application of government accounting regulations in larger financial systems.

It is desirable that you have experience working in the financial system Unit4 Agresso (UBW). It is also desirable that you have experience in driving improvement work, either individually or with colleagues, especially in complex organizations with many stakeholders, as well as experience in implementing new working methods and developing or reshaping processes and routines in accounting.

Good to Know
