Position within the Social Administration
The position is located within the Social Administration, which is one of eight administrations in Linköping Municipality. The Social Administration is responsible for authority exercise, ordering services, and self-management in the areas of individual and family care, LSS, and social psychiatry. We ensure that all residents receive the support they are entitled to. Do you want to improve the everyday life, future, and quality of life for the residents of Linköping? With us, you can combine important tasks with a meaningful everyday life. Welcome to us!
Your Responsibilities
As a support assistant, you help create a safe, meaningful, and caring everyday life for individuals with physical, mental, and/or intellectual disabilities. Your mission is to provide both care and support – in daily life and in contact with the outside world – always with the individual's needs at the center. You work closely with the individual and base your work on the user's conditions and wishes. With pedagogical support and care, you help the person develop and use their abilities to become as independent as possible. Together, you create an everyday life where participation, self-determination, and quality of life are paramount.
The tasks are varied and can include everything from personal hygiene, care, and support in daily routines, to practical tasks such as cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, and medication management. You may also support in contact with authorities and healthcare. We work based on IBIC (Individual's Needs in Center), which means that each intervention is planned together with the individual. As a contact person, you are responsible for establishing and following up on an implementation plan, as well as documenting and recording in the Treserva system. In this role, you also have close dialogue with relatives and other partners.
Your Workplace
We are now looking for two new colleagues for permanent positions at Härnegatan group home, with a workload of 75-90%. Your working hours will be scheduled for days, evenings, and weekends. The group home is located in Ljungsbro, easily accessible by bus on both weekdays and weekends.
The target group at Härnegatan group home is mixed, primarily consisting of adults with disabilities who have varying but significant care needs. Some users may exhibit challenging behavior. The group home has five apartments and common areas where residents can spend time when they want company from their neighbors. In our shared kitchen, we cook all meals together.
We support our residents in all areas of life, both inside and outside the group home. Most individuals living in the group home have very limited verbal communication and express themselves through few words, gestures, sounds, and body language, but also through alternative and augmentative communication such as visual supports. In addition, we also work with assistive devices such as lifts.
The workgroup is an experienced team with long experience in the field. We care about taking care of new staff who join us. We support, introduce, and have a designated supervisor to ensure everything goes as smoothly as possible. We welcome new ideas and thoughts about the operation and see it as an advantage if you are creative.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who has completed the care and nursing program, the child and leisure program, or has another equivalent education. You have experience working in support, care, and nursing. It is an advantage if you have previous experience working with individuals with intellectual or physical disabilities, as well as individuals with challenging behavior, assistive devices, transfer techniques, or documentation according to IBIC. If you have previous experience working with low-arousal approaches, we view this positively.
Since several of our residents have limitations in verbal communication, it is an advantage if you have knowledge of AAC (alternative and augmentative communication), such as visual supports or sign language. We also prefer that you have worked based on IBIC (Individual's Needs in Center). The work involves many contacts with both residents and relatives, as well as ongoing documentation. Therefore, you need to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing. Good computer skills are required, and it is an advantage if you have experience with journal systems and working with implementation plans.
You are a self-driven person who takes responsibility for your tasks and drives the work forward. At the same time, you enjoy collaboration and find it easy to listen, communicate clearly, and adapt your approach to the situation and person. Your empathetic ability allows you to understand others' perspectives and meet people with understanding and respect. You often come up with new ideas and have innovative thinking that can easily be implemented in your work and yield results.
