Water Officer at the County Administrative Board of Södermanland
The County Administrative Board is an expert authority in areas such as nature and environment, community planning, and rural development, directly subordinate to the government. We act as a link between people, municipalities, regions, and various authorities. We work to ensure that national goals are implemented in the county. We do this by considering the whole in our authority's exercise, by conveying knowledge, and by coordinating and developing various issues. Sustainable development provides opportunities for the future in Södermanland for all.
The position is located in the unit for water, environment, and climate.
The unit has 18 employees who work to manage the county's water resources, contribute to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, and coordinate the county's environmental goal work.
Job Responsibilities
You will work broadly with various types of water-related issues within the unit. In the position, you may work within water management with impact assessments, status classifications, and measures, primarily within hydromorphology with various types of migration barriers for plants and animals. The position also includes participating in environmental monitoring of lakes and watercourses. This involves, among other things, work with the setup and operation of research programs, data analysis, and to a lesser extent fieldwork.
The work also includes planning and following up on liming of acidified waters. The position may also involve handling various types of support within Local Water Conservation Projects (LOVA) and Local Nature Conservation Projects (LONA).
Qualifications and Profile
We want you to:
- have a university degree in biology, limnology, hydrology, or equivalent education according to the employer's assessment with a focus on one of these subjects
- have at least 1 year of professional experience in water management, environmental monitoring, or similar
- express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish
- have a B driver's license
It is meritorious if you have:
- knowledge in hydromorphology
- previous experience in investigative work regarding wetlands and an understanding of what is practically and hydrotechnically feasible measures.
- good knowledge of the Environmental Code's provisions.
- knowledge in GIS
- experience in analyzing scientific data, such as sampling data
- experience in municipal or state operations.

At the same time, you are a person who shares your competence and experience both within and outside the authority.
You are proactive and solution-oriented and can switch between administrative, practical, and project management work. It is also important that you are good at planning and prioritizing and have good communication skills. You should be able to work independently, carefully, and goal-oriented.

About the Position
The employment is a fixed-term position for 11 months with a start date of January 16, 2026.
All positions at the County Administrative Board may be subject to security clearance and military placement depending on the nature of the assignment.
