At the Swedish Migration Agency, we work with one of the major societal issues of our time – migration. We are a total of about 6,000 people here, and we have an unusually important job!

The Swedish Migration Agency has a significant and important mission in a time of change at the national, European, and international levels.

The agency staff has a central role in the agency's work to coordinate and ensure the development of long-term strategic governance and a unified message both internally and externally. In this context, we are developing the agency staff by enhancing and strengthening existing preparation functions.

We are looking for an expert who wants to contribute to the agency's important work as a special advisor in the agency staff. We are looking for someone with experience in migration issues and experience working at or in close collaboration with the Government Offices, which has contributed to knowledge of the state budget process and governance of agencies. What does a special advisor do?

A special advisor is a strategic expert working in the director general's staff. You will be part of a group of special advisors where your specific competence consists of experience from or in close collaboration with the Government Offices. In this work, you need to have knowledge of ongoing reform work within migration legislation at the national and European levels. You will strengthen our group by analyzing and familiarizing yourself with legislative proposals and government assignments, in the agency staff's mission to coordinate and maintain coherence in ongoing and upcoming reform work. You will contribute by compiling and analyzing materials and reviewing texts, which places high demands on your ability to express yourself verbally and in writing. In this role, you will collaborate closely with other departments of the Swedish Migration Agency as well as with the Government Offices and other agencies.

You who apply have:

  • A university degree of at least 120 credits with a relevant focus for the employer, such as law, economics, or social sciences
  • Good knowledge of the state budget process
  • Good knowledge of administrative law, public access, and confidentiality legislation
  • Knowledge of migration issues at the national and European levels
  • Experience of collaboration with the Government Offices and other agencies
  • Very good communication skills. You express yourself very well in Swedish, both orally and in writing, and have a good command of English
  • Swedish citizenship

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience of strategic work in staff and/or preparation functions
  • Experience of working with the state budget process

Security clearance with a background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) will be conducted. Based on this, there is a requirement for Swedish citizenship. Employment is contingent upon a successful security clearance.

Location: Norrköping, the position requires presence at the headquarters in Norrköping on average 2 - 3 days a week
Employment type: Permanent, probationary employment may be relevant
Start date: As soon as possible by agreement
Working hours: Office hours
