Surgical Ward 6 is a general surgical emergency department focused on upper and lower gastroenterology, urology, and palliative/oncological care. We also offer surgical day care and preoperative reception, which provides great variation in tasks and a broad competence base.

We care for patients aged 15 and up and have 20 care places. Our department is supported by a competent and experienced team consisting of nurses, nursing assistants, specialist nurses, and doctors. We are also a ULVE department, which means we receive nursing students and support them during their clinical practice.

Our focus areas include palliative care, upper and lower gastroenterology, urology, pain, wound care, and nutrition. The work is team-based, where each team consists of a nurse and one to two nursing assistants.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a nurse with us, you participate in patient-centered nursing work together with a nursing assistant. You assist each other in the work around the patient but also together with other colleagues in our department. With us, you get a stimulating and varied job that gives you broad experience of all tasks within our different specialties.

You work in pairs with a nursing assistant and are jointly responsible for the care of patients. Your tasks include:

• Pre- and post-operative care
• Medication management
• Sampling
• Documentation in Cosmic
• Care planning and contact with relatives
• Collaboration with doctors and participation in rounds
• In advanced phases, you lead and develop the nursing work in the team.

You meet patients in acute and elective surgery, urology, and palliative care—a complex and educational patient group. The work is technically advanced, fast-paced, and requires good communication and collaboration skills.

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse, and if you have experience in your profession, that’s good but not a requirement. The most important thing is that you have a good attitude, contribute to a good work environment, and always have the patient in focus.
