University Lecturer in Political Science

The Department of Political Science is a dynamic and strong educational and research institution at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Stockholm University.

The department strives to be nationally leading and internationally prominent in research and education. The Department of Political Science has over 90 employees and around 800 students.

Job Responsibilities

The work involves conducting teaching within the field of political science. The teaching covered by the position includes the following:

  • Organizations and institutions.
  • Forms and processes of politics.
  • Swedish politics.
  • Democracy, administration, and society.
  • Political science methods, focusing on research design and qualitative methods.
  • Perspectives on politics.
  • Approaches to Politics.
  • Supervision and examination of Bachelor's theses.

Eligibility Requirements

Eligible for appointment as a university lecturer is one who has demonstrated pedagogical skill and has obtained a PhD in political science with a specialization in Swedish politics or has equivalent scientific competence.

All teaching positions at Stockholm University require that the applicant has the ability to collaborate and is otherwise suitable to fulfill the work tasks.

Since the teaching is conducted in both Swedish and English, the applicant must have a very good command of both languages, both orally and in writing.

Assessment Criteria

Particular and equal weight is given to scientific and pedagogical skills, especially within the areas covered by the teaching. Administrative ability and the ability to collaborate with the surrounding community are also valued.

Particular weight is given to scientific skill demonstrated through independent research in the area of Swedish politics, and in-depth knowledge of radical right parties is meritorious.

Meritorious is university pedagogical education of at least 15 higher education credits or equivalent knowledge acquired in other ways.

About the Position

The position is part-time (60 percent) and is temporary for seven months. Start date as soon as possible.
