Description

At Språkcentrum, there are approximately 300 mother tongue teachers who together teach more than 70 languages.

We provide mother tongue support, mother tongue instruction, education in the mother tongue within modern languages, and study guidance to about 13,000 children and students from preschool to high school throughout Gothenburg and the surrounding municipalities.

Responsibilities

Språkcentrum is now seeking a mother tongue teacher in Igbo.

As a mother tongue teacher, you will develop the student's language by using varied working methods and teaching methods. You actively use digital tools in a way that benefits the student's learning.

Organizationally, you belong to Språkcentrum, but the majority of your time will be spent working at the schools within preschool and primary school where you are assigned. The assignment requires collaboration with the principal and staff at these schools.

Your immediate supervisor is one of the unit managers at Språkcentrum.

One morning a week, you meet with your colleagues at Språkcentrum in work teams or language groups where you work based on the development needs that have been identified. You will receive support, inspiration, and ideas from your supervisor and your colleagues at Språkcentrum.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is qualified and licensed as a mother tongue teacher and/or primary school teacher and has at least 30 higher education credits in your mother tongue.

You have good didactic knowledge in the relevant language and good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.

It is desirable that you have experience from pedagogical work in Swedish schools. You are well-informed and understand the importance of working based on the governing documents of the Swedish school system.

Since digital tools are to be used actively and thoughtfully in teaching, you must have good digital competence.

As mother tongue teachers meet groups of students daily with varying levels of knowledge and age, you need to be flexible in your pedagogical approach. Your attitude towards children and youth is characterized by attentiveness and encouragement. You motivate the young people you meet and give them strength and belief in themselves.

In your interactions with school staff, you are collaborative and solution-oriented while being clear about what your role as a mother tongue teacher entails. As a colleague, it is natural for you to share ideas and experiences and develop Språkcentrum as a whole.
