About the Workplace

The Urban Planning Administration plans, builds, manages, and develops Helsingborg. We want to be smart and brave when we develop our urban environments and green structures into places where people want to be. We are about 240 employees who work creatively and joyfully for a sustainable city that we and the people of Helsingborg are proud of.

As a traffic planner, you will be part of the traffic unit within the urban environment department. Here, we are responsible for both today's traffic design and the long-term strategic planning for the future of Helsingborg.

In the unit, we are 22 employees with broad expertise and a varied mission. We are now looking for someone to strengthen our design team and contribute with your knowledge and engagement.

Job Responsibilities

Your main task is to contribute with knowledge bases and analyses to support the planning, prioritization, and implementation of traffic measures. You will work on developing and evaluating action plans as well as strategic documents, maps, and geographic analyses to visualize data and create clear bases for decisions and planning.

An important part of the role is to act as a bridge between planning and design, where you contribute to translating the city's goals and strategies into concrete solutions in the street space. You will work with analysis prior to action planning, feasibility studies, and evaluation of measures, and follow up on traffic measurements, accident development, and results.

The work also includes monitoring the external environment and strategic development within traffic safety and sustainable mobility. You will help identify future needs and directions for the city's work and be responsible for writing and documentation – compiling and communicating knowledge, results, and conclusions in reports and decision bases.

You will often work in project groups together with colleagues from different areas of expertise – planning, design, operations, and maintenance – as well as in collaboration with other external actors. The traffic unit works broadly with the city's traffic issues, and you may also contribute to assignments related to traffic safety work, monitoring goals for sustainable mobility, or citizen dialogues.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has a strong commitment to traffic issues and wants to work in a role where you can help develop and design a good solution for the city's traffic system. You work based on facts and have a good understanding of the whole but can also balance it with the need to delve into details.

Requirements for the role include a university degree in urban planning, traffic planning, civil engineering, or another relevant field with several years of experience in the area.

You have experience in traffic or urban planning, preferably with a focus on traffic safety, accident analysis, investigations, or how data and GIS can contribute to smarter planning.

We would like you to be structured, curious, and solution-oriented, with the ability to work both independently and in close collaboration with others. You express yourself well in speech and writing and can communicate and argue for your ideas and analyses in a trustworthy manner.
