Security Protection Specialist
The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency coordinates efforts for a good living environment together with others. With us, you can contribute to the important work of achieving our vision – to create a good living environment for humans and all other living beings, now and for future generations!
We are looking for a security protection specialist who wants to contribute to the development of the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency's work in security and preparedness. Here, you will work alongside engaged colleagues to drive development towards a resilient and sustainable society. As a preparedness authority, we are currently focusing on sewage and waste management, but other activities within the agency's area of responsibility may also be relevant for total defense.
The Security Unit consists of nine employees and is responsible for driving, developing, and coordinating the agency's security and preparedness work. The unit is responsible for both security protection and operational protection. The unit's tasks also include crisis preparedness, civil defense, and continuity planning.
We are in an exciting phase of development and are looking for someone motivated by change and development work.
Your Responsibilities
In the role of security protection specialist, you have a central function in developing the agency's capacity in security protection. You will work on developing methods and approaches that enhance understanding and strengthen internal capabilities while participating in external collaboration. The work includes practical support to the agency's various operations, and with your expertise, you will also participate in risk assessment and prioritize further work based on this.
You will promote a systematic approach to security protection issues. You have an interest in working across all areas of security protection, i.e., physical security, personnel security, and information security. Initially, the focus will mainly be on physical security. In training sessions, exercises, and workshops, you will actively contribute to both planning and implementation. You will also be somewhat involved in the unit's work with crisis preparedness and civil defense.
You enjoy switching between strategic and operational tasks and function both as a supportive and guiding force. The work is carried out in close collaboration with internal and external parties, which requires you to easily establish lasting relationships and engage in proactive dialogue to support these operations in finding safe and effective solutions.
The role offers good opportunities for professional development in the field and contributes to the unit's overall mission, which also opens up for development in other areas within preparedness and security.
Your Qualifications
Requirements for Employment
- relevant university education or other higher education combined with several years of experience in security protection deemed equivalent by the agency,
- documented experience of having previously worked with security protection, and
- experience in formulating high-quality written materials.
Meritorious
- experience working with physical security, personnel security, and information security within the framework of security protection, preferably in civil operations.

- training or experience in crisis preparedness, civil defense, continuity planning, or signal protection.
- several years of work experience from strategic and operational work in public operations.
- good knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations in the field of security and preparedness.
Personal Attributes
As a person, you have the ability to create good relationships and communicate smoothly both internally and externally. You are analytical and strategic, with the ability to see the big picture and find solutions that lead to improvement and development. You can drive work forward both independently and in collaboration with others. You are structured and have a flexibility that allows you to easily shift between strategic and operational work. We value a good and unpretentious collaboration where we are attentive, support each other, and share knowledge.
