Electrical and Mechanical Technician Wanted at the Swedish Armed Forces Communications and Information Systems Unit

The Swedish Armed Forces Communications and Information Systems Unit (FMTIS) is looking for an electrical and mechanical technician, based at the telecommunications section in Kallinge.

About the Department

The Implementation Department in Ronneby is part of the Implementation Unit South, whose operations ensure the Armed Forces' ability to communicate and lead, around the clock - year-round. The unit consists of over 180 employees distributed across 7 departments in 6 locations within the Southern Military Region (MR S), of which GA Ronneby is one. GA Ronneby currently has 37 employees distributed across three sections.

Main Responsibilities

  • Independently or in teams work on troubleshooting and maintenance of the Armed Forces' power supply and backup power facilities as well as elevator systems in masts
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance at the airport
  • The position also involves collaborating with colleagues in other technical areas as well as external suppliers
  • Support other technical areas within FMTIS as needed
  • Conduct training and participate in collaboration meetings

The work is primarily carried out at the Armed Forces' unmanned facilities, which means that travel and overnight stays in other locations are common. The geographical work area is primarily located in southern Sweden, mainly Blekinge, Småland, and Skåne. International support trips may occur. Some of the work is performed at high altitudes, so an approved medical examination for work at high altitudes must be completed before employment. Internal training for specific work areas is provided by the Armed Forces.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Work experience or education in the relevant technical area or equivalent knowledge deemed comparable by the employer
  • Good ability to communicate in spoken and written Swedish and English
  • Driving license B
  • Good physical condition (as work at high altitudes is involved)
  • Computer skills

DESIRABLE

  • Experience working with power supply and backup power facilities and other related equipment
  • Approved high school education with a focus on electricity
  • Knowledge of reading electrical and wiring diagrams
  • Mechanically skilled
  • Approved for climbing
  • Military driving licenses
  • BE and CE driving licenses
  • Completed military basic training or GSU

Employment type: Permanent employment as a civilian employee full-time, starting with a six-month probationary period for those who are currently not employed within the Armed Forces. Placement: Ronneby. Work may occur in other parts of the country.
