We are looking for

A counselor, 100% permanent position

Content and Responsibilities

The position includes providing support to students through individual conversations, various forms of group activities, information and presentations, lectures, and workshops, as well as consultative and educational efforts aimed at staff. Furthermore, it also includes providing advisory information through, among other things, drop-in reception and phone consultations. Other tasks within the unit may also be included.

Qualifications

For this position, the following is specifically required:

  • A degree in social work with extensive experience in curative work primarily with young adults.
  • Documented experience working at both individual and group levels and being well-acquainted with working independently with assessment and action planning.
  • You have experience actively conducting lectures, courses, and groups with a focus on student welfare and are comfortable speaking in front of a larger group.
  • As communication is an important tool in meeting students, and since work at Malmö University is conducted in an international environment, we require good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
  • You have experience and are comfortable working with digital channels and tools.
  • Documented experience working as a counselor within student health care at colleges and universities.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities, meaning that you have good collaboration skills, a flexible working style, and are accustomed to working independently and taking your own initiatives.

Workplace

The position is located at the Student Health Center, which is a unit under the Student Center department. In addition to the Student Health Center, the Student Center consists of four other units: Studies, Career and Alumni, Educational Support, International Office, and the Study Administrative Unit.

The Student Health Center is a low-threshold service, and we work preventively and promote various levels of students' social study environment and health. The operation is organized according to local conditions and offers students interventions tailored to the specific needs of the target group. It should complement public/private health care. We have counselors and nurses, as well as roles such as coordinators for introduction and equal conditions for students.

At the Student Health Center, you will be part of a team of driven colleagues with extensive experience in student health care and a strong commitment to their work. The workgroup helps each other succeed and recognizes the importance of sharing tasks, knowledge, and experiences with one another.
