About the Role

Come and work with us in the control room, the heart of our nuclear power plants. At Forsmark, we work together for fossil freedom, and to achieve our goal, we need engaged employees who want to develop with us. We offer you a one-year paid training program that provides you with the right skills for the role and a secure start with us.

The position and our training program are aimed at both those with a few years of work experience and those who are newly graduated in the technology and engineering fields.

About the Job

If you become a process operator with us, your employment will begin with an extensive internal training program focused on operations and processes, lasting just over twelve months and directed towards the Forsmark facility. After the training, you will join a shift team responsible for the operational management and supervision of the Forsmark facility, ensuring that the plant produces electricity in all conditions. You will learn both the theoretical foundations and follow a shift team for practical moments at the facility.

Your tasks as a process operator include, among others:

  • Process monitoring from the local control room
  • Rounds of turbine and reactor systems
  • Conducting periodic tests of turbine and reactor systems
  • Performing shutdowns and restarts of system components
  • Establishing and updating operational instructions
  • Participation in training and retraining

Development Opportunities

If you want to develop, there are great opportunities. You can further your education internally to become a turbine operator, reactor operator, and gain authorization to become an assistant shift manager and ultimately a shift manager. For each new role, additional theoretical and practical training is required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma in a technical or scientific field, or equivalent knowledge through other studies. Attach your grades to your application. Approved grades in the following high school courses are typically a basic requirement:
  • Old curriculum: Chemistry A, Physics B, Mathematics D
  • New curriculum: Chemistry 1, Physics 2, Mathematics 3c
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish in speaking, writing, and reading comprehension.
  • Driver's license B or in the process of obtaining a B driver's license - you need to be able to reach the workplace at all shift times, even when public transport is not available.
  • Skills test via Alva Labs - as part of the recruitment process, you will complete a test, which will be sent to you via email.

Meritorious:

  • Technical further education, preferably with a focus on power and heat technology, or electrical power, operational engineering, or marine engineering
  • Work experience from, for example, the power and heat industry, shipping, paper and process industries
  • Experience with shift work

We place great importance on your personal qualities

Therefore, we see that you have a genuine interest in technology and science and are driven by curiosity. You are attracted to understanding how different process flows are interconnected and work in practice. Since you work closely with various functions in your shift team, it is important that you can build good relationships and see collaboration as a success factor. As the nature of the work can change quickly and can sometimes become stressful, it is important that you can remain calm and focused on the task. During quieter periods, you take initiative, identify what needs to be done, and drive the work forward.
