Your Responsibilities

As a teacher, your role includes planning, implementing, and following up on your music instruction. Teaching primarily takes place in grades 7-9, but instruction at other levels may also occur.

Your mission includes long-term planning of a systematic content in teaching. You will have the opportunity, together with colleagues and school management, to adapt the teaching environment to a modern and appealing learning space.

As a music teacher, you will be part of a subject team with teachers who also teach practical and aesthetic subjects and are expected to participate in the school's systematic quality work. You will also belong to a grade-level team where collaboration primarily occurs around organizational issues.

Your Workplace

Ånestad School is located near the central parts of Linköping and consists of two school units, F-6 and 7-9. Each unit has a principal and an assistant principal. The upper secondary section has about 270 students and approximately 45 staff, and there are over 600 students and 100 staff in total at the school.

Who You Are

You have applied for or hold a teaching license with the qualification to teach music in primary school, or you are currently training to become a music teacher. You are well-acquainted with the school's governing documents and have knowledge of assessment and grading. Experience as a teacher through internships, substitute teaching, or employment in schools, or other experience deemed relevant by the employer is desirable. It is also an advantage if you have previously worked in a school and handled grading.

To succeed in your role, you are engaged with clear leadership in the classroom; a leader who conveys calm and security. You communicate clearly and ensure that the message reaches the recipient. At Ånestad School, it is important to work to make students active participants and responsible in their learning, as well as to show trust in their abilities. It is crucial to recognize the needs of the student and adapt teaching to the individual, group, context, and situation. Collaboration skills and relationship-building are also fundamental qualities, as the teaching role involves cooperation with both internal and external actors.
