Workplace Description

Salem Municipality is growing, new plans are being developed, and exciting constructions are taking shape. With us, you will be one of many engaged individuals in the Environmental and Community Planning Department. There is a high ceiling and a very good atmosphere. We work for a sustainable Salem. In the Building and Environment Unit, we are a total of seven people working under our own committee. Job Description

We offer you excellent opportunities for varied work within building permit processing. With us, we handle all types of cases, throughout the entire process from building permits to final approvals. We participate in the detailed planning process, and there may also be cases related to shoreline protection. We provide good service and advice. We strive to develop and offer good opportunities to grow in your professional role while maintaining a balance between work and leisure.

Qualifications

We are looking for:

• Someone who has worked through the entire building process (stage one and two) from building permits to final approvals for at least 5 years.
• You are a trained building permit officer with experience from municipal decision-making processes.
• You have experience working in a politically governed organization and exercising authority.
• You have good knowledge of the Planning and Building Act (PBL), as well as knowledge of the Building Regulations (BBR).
• You are also experienced in supervision and have worked with processing exemptions for shoreline protection.
• You have experience working in the detailed planning process.
• You have a driver's license.

The work includes daily contacts with companies and private individuals, so it is important that you enjoy interacting with people and are passionate about clear and professional communication. You are accustomed to taking responsibility for your work and commitments, you are flexible, and you work well with others.

In addition to your knowledge and experience, you also need to have certain personal competencies that we believe are important for doing a good job in this role. As a person, you need to be attentive and service-oriented, which for us means that you listen and try to understand others' perspectives while doing your best to deliver good solutions. You need to be able to work independently by planning, structuring, and prioritizing your work. It is also important that you have good collaboration skills and can express yourself well in both speech and writing. In smaller municipalities, it is important that you are willing to help where needed.

Processing is done in the case management system Nova, and we also value digital competence.

About the Employment

The position is a permanent full-time employment with placement according to agreement; a probationary period may apply. The application deadline is 2025-08-01.
