Musician for the Life Guards' Dragon Music Corps
The Defense Music (Fömus) is a unit (in the Life Guards) with functional responsibility within the Armed Forces for Swedish military music. The main task is state ceremonies with music during national holidays, the opening of the Parliament, state visits, royal audiences, changing of the guard with parade, and visits from higher officials. A wide range of concert activities takes place during the winter months. The Defense Music consists of three music corps; the Army Music Corps, the Life Guards' Dragon Music Corps, and the Navy Music Corps. The Defense Music has functional responsibility for the 25 Home Guard Music Corps.
The Life Guards' Dragon Music Corps is the mounted music corps. The Dragon Music Corps is a brass band for parade and ceremonial music. The corps also performs on foot and has an extensive concert program. The music corps is based in Stockholm and consists of 30 musicians.
Main Responsibilities
- Mounted and marching performances in ceremonies, parades, and figurative displays both nationally and internationally
- Participate in concerts as a full corps and in ensembles
- Participate in recordings and live performances
- Collaboration in special work and production groups within the Defense Music
- Complete mandatory riding course
- Stable duties
Qualifications
- Music education at university level or equivalent
- No allergies to hay or fur animals
- Physical condition for mounted and marching performances. The Armed Forces has a general maximum weight of approximately 95 kg for riders, as weight is added for equipment on both horse and rider
Meritorious
- Completed and approved riding course at the Life Guards
- Previous experience with the Armed Forces, e.g., basic military training/conscription
- Driving license B

You need to be a team player who finds it easy to collaborate with others but can also work independently. An important part of the role is to be communicative and attentive. We are looking for someone who is goal-oriented and results-driven with a strong desire to take responsibility for their tasks and is security-conscious.

Employment
This is a temporary position for the period 250901 - 260606 or by agreement. We apply individual salary setting. To be employed in the Armed Forces, a security clearance with a background check is required.
Other Information about the Position
In your service, you will wear a uniform. The position also includes work with horses in a stable environment. It is important for the employment to master the mandatory riding course with a passing result. The work takes place in varying work environments both indoors and outdoors.

The Life Guards is one of the Armed Forces' largest units with roots dating back to 1521. We train tomorrow's soldiers, as well as military police and personnel who will carry out international missions. We guard the royal palaces, have security and ground combat units. We also have the responsibility to preserve and develop the Swedish military music tradition. Our headquarters is in Kungsängen outside Stockholm, but we are also present in Sollentuna, central Stockholm, Uppsala, Gothenburg, and Karlskrona.
