The Forest and Sami Museum is looking for a curator with a forestry focus.

The Forest and Sami Museum is a company jointly owned by Lycksele Municipality and Region Västerbotten. The museum has a regional responsibility to collect, preserve, and communicate knowledge about forests, forest history, and Sami cultural heritage. The museum is beautifully located at Gammplatsen in Lycksele, with a rich cultural environment. The museum is responsible for the operations in the open-air museum area together with the Lycksele Local Heritage Society and the Lycksele Sami Association. Our vision is to be an obvious meeting place and a force in sustainable community development through forests and Sami culture.

The Forest and Sami Museum is seeking a curator with a forestry focus who will work with exhibitions and make the museum's collections visible as well as collection management. The museum works with a knowledge transfer mission to visitors. The assignment includes driving activity programs based on the exhibitions, collections, and cultural heritage available at the museum and in the Gammplatsen open-air museum area.

You will also work strategically on the development of the museum's forestry operations.

YOUR PROFILE

We believe that you are a curator with a forestry focus or another education that the employer assesses as equivalent. You have previous experience working in the museum or cultural heritage sector. We consider it an advantage if you have a background in natural sciences and/or forestry. Other language skills besides Swedish and English are also meritorious. A B driver's license is a requirement for the position.

As a curator, you are a representative of the museum and its activities. Your tasks include guiding in exhibitions and answering questions from visitors, which requires you to be service-oriented, have good collaboration skills, and provide excellent hospitality. To thrive in the role of curator, you need to be able to work both independently and together with others. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Upon employment, a criminal record extract must be presented.
