About the Workplace

Östra Närvården includes Region Blekinge's health centers, youth clinics, children's and adolescents' mental health services, wound center, Karlskrona Rehab Center, and the Doctor's Car.

Residents of Blekinge who fall ill turn directly to the health centers and gain access to health care that does not require hospital resources. Care is provided in all cities of the county, in several smaller locations, and sometimes in homes. Our goal is to be a modern outpatient care facility where teamwork and the needs of patients are central. Region Blekinge places all permanent staff in a military reserve.

Wämö health center is a medium-sized public health center located on the hospital grounds in Karlskrona. There are excellent communication options as bus and train stations are in direct proximity. You can quickly reach Karlskrona Center by car or bus. Our facilities include an emergency center during evenings and weekends.

Job Responsibilities

As a doctor at Wämö health center, you will work broadly within the field of general medicine with varying patient appointments, both urgent and planned, as well as home visits. We have approximately 7600 registered patients. Here you will find, among other things, a laboratory, child health care, nurse reception, psychotherapists, diabetes clinic, asthma/COPD clinic, wound clinic, and rehabilitation coordinator. The health center is also responsible for a special accommodation.

At Wämö health center, we have recently initiated team-based work to offer patients more continuous care, care at the right level, and to ensure that collaboration across professional boundaries is an important part for us.

You will also supervise students and training doctors, which we see as a very important task in our operations and part of the daily work. Great emphasis is placed on participating in continuing education activities, common for the entire county, about once a month. There is an opportunity to participate in FQ/Balint groups for personal professional development.

Qualifications

You have a Swedish medical license with specialist competence in general medicine. You may be newly graduated or have extensive experience - however, it is an advantage if you have previous experience working in a health center.

You are proficient in the Swedish language in both spoken and written form. You have a genuine interest in helping people and always work with the patient in focus. You are confident in your professional role and are a positive colleague who contributes to our good work environment. Furthermore, you have good collaboration skills, initiative, and organizational ability.

Region Blekinge places all permanent staff in a military reserve. Some of our positions are security classified, where the employee must undergo a security screening interview and background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585). Applicants who are considered for employment must present an extract from the Police Authority's criminal record before employment.
