GKN Aerospace in Hallstahammar is now looking for a process engineer for the development and optimization of the casting process for superalloys. In this role, you will work with advanced technology in nickel and cobalt-based alloys at the company's facility.
Your Responsibilities
As a process engineer at GKN Aerospace, you will play a central role in the development and qualification of production processes for customer-specific products. You will work on testing and adjusting casting parameters to find the most efficient manufacturing method. To ensure high quality, you will also conduct dimensional measurements and analyze both micro and macro structures of the products.
More examples of responsibilities:
- Calculate shrinkage factors before ordering wax tools to ensure that the tools function as intended
- Develop casting systems and associated casting parameters and establish the correct scale parameters prior to the manufacturing of casting shells
- Work with CAD to design and complete casting systems, including modifications to customer drawings as needed
- Document and establish the manufacturing process before handover to production
The work is carried out in close collaboration with customers and internal functions such as your closest colleagues in the team, the quality department, and production. Together, you will continuously work on efficiencies and improvements and manage product changes.
Your Profile
We are looking for someone with an engineering degree or relevant work experience in industry/production in a similar role.
Furthermore, we wish that you have:
- A broad technical interest
- A willingness and ability to quickly learn new things
- A strong collaborative ability and thrive in teams with diverse backgrounds and skills
- The ability to work concurrently on multiple projects.
- You communicate fluently in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing.
Experience in casting production or casting technology, or knowledge in steel and/or ceramics is considered an advantage.
The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable regulations for security protection. For positions where GKN's customer has requirements for security classification, this may entail requirements for specific citizenship.
