We are looking for a librarian

We are looking for a librarian who enjoys outreach work and building good relationships with children and young people. You will work at the city library and be part of the children's team. Your primary focus will be on older children, but you will collaborate with others in the children's team to develop the entire city library's children's activities.

You will be responsible for the prioritized target groups: children with a different mother tongue than Swedish and children belonging to national minorities.

To succeed in this role, it is essential to maintain and establish new contacts with external partners, such as schools and youth services. You also need to create good relationships with children and young people to develop the services according to their needs and circumstances.

The position includes shifts at the information desk and weekend work every fifth week.

Your experience

  • You have a degree in library and information science or equivalent higher education from another country that the employer assesses as equivalent.
  • You speak and write Swedish at a good level.
  • It is highly meritorious if you have experience working as a librarian focused on children and young people.
  • It is advantageous if you speak languages, in addition to Swedish and English, that are the mother tongue for several of our visitors, such as Arabic, Somali, or Ukrainian.

Is this you?

  • You have a positive attitude towards change and see opportunities in the challenges that arise, focusing on developing and improving the library's services for users.
  • You contribute to a positive collaborative climate and promote open and constructive dialogue in the workplace.
  • You actively take the initiative to create relationships and build networks that strengthen collaboration both within and outside the organization.

We offer

  • An inspiring and developing work environment with friendly colleagues.
