Job Responsibilities

Molecular dynamics simulations are a powerful tool for studying both biomolecular and industrial processes.

However, these processes often exceed the time scales of simulations. In most relevant cases, processes involve passing free energy barriers. The coverage of such transitions can be exponentially improved using enhanced sampling methods, such as the Accelerated Weight Histogram Method (AWH) implemented in the GROMACS molecular simulation package. To apply such methods, a reaction coordinate is needed, which is often difficult to obtain. In this project, you will explore the possibilities of using higher-dimensional reaction coordinates, thereby increasing the likelihood of success. This must be done in a controlled manner to limit the sampling space. The AWH method can provide guidance in the form of a metric. We have challenging, relevant problems at hand, such as conformational transitions in various classes of membrane proteins.

Requirements

PhD degree or foreign degree deemed equivalent to a PhD. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled no later than at the time the employment decision is made.
