Unit for Supervision of Operations and Decommissioning
The unit's mission is to promote a radiation-safe society by supervising compliance with the requirements of nuclear facilities.
This means continuously monitoring the activities and developments of licensees and closely collaborating with the agency's subject matter experts. The unit is responsible for supervising nuclear facilities in operation and under decommissioning. This includes nuclear power plants, nuclear fuel manufacturers, facilities for the storage of spent nuclear fuel, and radioactive waste. The unit's area of expertise encompasses knowledge of how the facilities are constructed, how their operations are conducted, and how the activities are organized.
We now need to expand our unit and are looking for someone suitable for a role as an inspector for nuclear facilities in operation.
Essential Tasks
The work includes, among other things, maintaining ongoing contact with and following up on reports from nuclear power and other nuclear facilities, as well as initiating and participating in inspection and operational monitoring efforts.
The work is varied, and you will have the opportunity to work with many different supervisory issues related to nuclear facilities. This includes everything from ongoing contact with operations, maintenance, technical, and safety departments to participation in inspections within various areas of significance for safety.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- A degree from a technical university or equivalent experience deemed relevant by the agency.
- Excellent ability to communicate in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
- A valid driver's license (B).
- Good ability to understand and express yourself in English, both orally and in writing.
You should have experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Operational competence in the nuclear sector.
- Experience working with radioactive waste and its management, for example, with investigations in the field.
- Experience in radiation protection in a managerial role or at a strategic level.
- Experience in review or quality work at nuclear power plants or other nuclear facilities.
Meritorious
We consider it an advantage if you have experience in supervision or internal auditing.
Personal Attributes
As a person, you have high integrity and the ability to drive work forward. Since the work involves many contact points, it is important that you find it easy to collaborate.
You have the ability to see from a holistic perspective and can assess and synthesize information into a comprehensive picture.
We expect you to have a high level of safety awareness and that you can work according to both our values - the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority (stralsakerhetsmyndigheten.se (http://stralsakerhetsmyndigheten.se)) and the Government's value base (forvaltningskultur.se (http://forvaltningskultur.se)).
We Offer You
As an employee at the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority, you have an important societal mission! Together, we work for a radiation-safe society. Here you can read about what we offer: Read more about our terms and benefits (http://www.stralsakerhetsmyndigheten.se).

The position is security classified, which means a security review with a background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585), which is conducted before a hiring decision is made. Swedish citizenship may be required for the position.
You may be part of the agency's crisis organization and may also be assigned to the agency in times of war. The crisis organization performs radiation protection assessments and nuclear analyses and collaborates with other relevant actors to manage radiological emergencies, including situations of heightened preparedness. Within the framework of the crisis organization, you will be part of the response readiness that the agency maintains to support other actors in society with radiation measurements.
