About the Unit

FMTIS has four operational units (GE) in Sweden that maintain the Armed Forces' command systems within IT and telecommunications, the position is located at GE Väst. The unit works with the maintenance of the Armed Forces' telecommunications network, electrical/mechanical, radio, sensor, surveillance, and field systems, as well as installation, operation, and maintenance of various IT systems.

The department in Halmstad consists of two sections, a telecommunications section and an IT section with a total of about 30 employees.

Main Responsibilities

The work involves carrying out corrective and preventive maintenance of the Armed Forces' technical communication equipment, which consists of radio links, optical fibers, switches, routers, and switches. The work is performed both individually and in teams. The work primarily takes place at the Armed Forces' facilities mainly in western Sweden and less frequently in other parts of the country. Other types of business trips, training, and exercises also occur.

Travel and overnight stays in the service occur as the work is largely performed at the Armed Forces' external facilities.

The position involves working at heights, where approved climbing authorization is a requirement. Therefore, during the probationary period, a medical examination and training for work on masts and towers will be conducted.

Qualifications

• High school education in the field of electrical/telecommunications, data, or equivalent knowledge assessed by the employer as equivalent.
• Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
• Driving license B (manual transmission)
• Good physical condition

Meritorious

• Professional experience in the areas of telecommunications, networking, data communication, and IT.
• Completed military basic training
• Experience working at heights.
• Professional experience working with cables and connectors
• Knowledge of optical equipment.
• Approved climbing training for work with significant elevation differences according to AFS 2019:3 71§

Other

Civil permanent employment that begins with a six-month probationary period. During this period, a medical examination and training will be conducted for work on masts and towers. These must be approved within the probationary period and are a requirement for the position to transition to a permanent employment.
